Ralph Lorberbaum is a 1973 graduate of Emory University School of Law in Atlanta, Georgia. He received an undergraduate degree in business administration from the University of Georgia. After graduation, he was an assistant district attorney in Savannah, Georgia, where he prosecuted misdemeanor and felony criminal cases. After two (2) years, he went into private practice handling personal injury and workers' compensation cases. Since 1980, over one-half (1/2) of his practice has been devoted to handling workers' compensation acts, including the Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act, the Non-appropriated Funds Instrumentalities Act, the Defense Base Act and the War Hazards Compensation Act.

Mr. Lorberbaum has handled numerous federal workers' compensation act cases at all levels of trial including at the Administrative Law Judge level, the Benefits Review Board (appellate) level, and the United States Court of Appeals (appellate) level. He has represented workers hurt in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, on the Johnson ATOLL, and in Saudi Arabia. He has appeared at trial in Georgia, Florida, South Carolina and Virginia.

Mr. Lorberbaum belongs to numerous workers' compensation group, including the Workplace Injury Litigation Group (WILG), the Southeastern Admiralty Law Institute (SEALI), the Maritime Law Association (MLA), the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (ATLA), and the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). He has been certified as a Civil Law Specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy (NBTA). He is a member of other groups including the Loyola University Law Seminar Committee and the Advisory Board of the National Longshore Reporter. He was appointed by the Honorable Roy Barnes, Governor of Georgia, to serve on his Workers' Compensation Advisory Board.

Mr. Lorberbaum has spoken at numerous workers' compensation seminars on both state and federal workers' compensation topics. He is also a co-author of the Longshore Text Book, published by the Lawyers and Judges Publishing Company.
